Consumer Cognition is run by Babs Crane – Behavioural Designer, Consumer Psychology Consultant and lover of all things Behavioural Science & Consumer Psychology. You can read more about Babs and her background here, however, one common theme has run through her working life of the past 14 years: she has always been fascinated by human behaviour in ‘real world’ settings. As her career has progressed, it has become apparent that the interest in understanding what drives our behaviour is one that’s becoming more popular as each year goes by.
Consumer Psychology is the science of human behaviour in consumer settings. It is the culmination of social psychology, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology (neuro marketing) and even evolutionary psychology, all blended to give insights into consumer behaviour. As much as we may not like to admit it, we are all consumers and humans have been consuming in some way for millenia. In more recent times, especially through the 20th & 21st centuries, commercial businesses, not for profit organisations and even organisations in the public sector have been fighting for the attention of consumers through various sales & marketing activities. The implications of these have been far reaching, for both the good and not so good. Therefore, there has never been a better time to understand consumer behaviour.
Consumer Cognition has been developed to help organisations gain an understanding of what is really going on inside the heads of people out there in consumer & work-based settings, both ‘in the real world’ and also online. This is achieved through consultancy work with organisations as well as through articles posted on this site and through training activities.
